From the desk of Mr. Kish...                                                                                     v.35 # 32
Dear Parent, Student, Teacher, Friend, and Benefactor,

fathersteveprayer

FR. STEVE GIRA C.S.R.  announced to us yesterday that he is not off the hook yet --- and neither are we!  He has gastric cancer cells in his liver and needs a biopsy on Wednesday to determine the next course of treatment.  I wish you could have heard his homily yesterday.   Fr. Steve talked about the paradigm shifts we have to make in life…some willingly, like moving from land-lines to wireless and some forced upon us --- like a life-changing illness he did not want.  “Life does not submit to our requests make things go the way we want.”  “Prophets are paradigm-bashers”.  They shake up the status quo.  This is how the world has always moved forward.  And we can help rattle the doors of heaven tomorrow night at 6:00 as we hold a prayer service for Fr. Steve on the eve of his biopsy.
Fr. Carl reminded Fr. Steve we will continue our prayers for him until he “lets us off the hook”.  He closed with  St. Paul telling the Corinthians, “Love never fails”.

We have a new prayer for Fr. Steve and we realize there are many in our world suffering from cancer and other illnesses.  We are interceding for them too.  Eucharistic Adoration devotions and praying your rosary to or from work is another idea that won’t shorten your day but actually enrich it.
We hope to see you tomorrow night at 6:00.  Let’s fill the Church for Fr. Steve and all who suffer from life’s illnesses.
